I am sharing with you the most powerful lessons I have learned in 2017. As we start brand new year 2018, these lessons might be useful for you to navigate through your own true potential and make impact in this world in 2018. Here I present you these nine lessons.

  1. Invest in your learning

I love this quote from Albert Einstein as it goes “Once you stop learning, You start dying” Whatever your age might be, whether you are young or older if you stop learning you start dying. There lot changing in the world every single day in every industry.

And it is also said the biggest investment you can make in your life is in yourself which also means that you invest in your growth, in your learning. This year I have invested in many books, courses and a 5 days intensive bootcamp by Brig. Sushil Bhasin for trainers which has transformed my life and also also taught me a lesson that I need to invest even more in upscaling my skills and knowledge so as to serve the world in greater way.

  1. Invest in experiences

Fill your life with experiences, not things. Have stories to tell not stuff to show.” This quote from unknown resonates very well with me. The happiness that comes from getting materialistic things only lasts for a certain amount of time, But when you have these powerful memories of experiences these memories remains for long long time with you.

Psychology Professor Thomas Gilovich from Cornell University has made four studies on the subject over decades and came to the conclusion that happiness is derived from experiences, not things.

His experiments focused particularly on how people felt spending money on stuffs versus experiences and ultimately he found that people are more happier because of experiences.

Whether it is to travel to new places, or go and watch your favourite team’s match or run on half marathon like I did last month. Make it a priority that you invest more in your experiences than in stuffs.

  1. Invest time with people that matter

“Time is free, but its priceless. You cannot own it . But you can use it. You can’t keep it but you can spend it, Once you have lost it you can never get it back.” This beautiful quote from Harvey Mackay says it all. Time is priceless resource that we have. so Invest your time with dreamers, visionaries and people who encourage and uplift you versus people who criticize you pull you down and makes you feel like a loser. Keep yourself away from energy vampires and connect with people having same vision and dreams as you have.

This year I have formed a mastermind group with other amazing four individuals where we talk about our goals, ideas, struggles and achievements on our meet every other week. These meets has helped me to plan better and I was given lot of constructive feedback and ideas so as to achieve my goals. So make sure you connect with right individuals.

  1. Get in good mind set

“Once your mindset changes, everything on the outside will change alongwith it.” That was a quote from Steve Maraboli. Very truly said, for any external transformation to happen there must be an internal transformation and for that my friends, getting in good mindset is the very first step. You cannot develop good relationship with your partner when all you feed to your mind is “ All men are same” or “ Women are not trustworthy”. So first have a positive strong mindset and for that, every single day, set aside at least 5 minutes in mornings to feed your brain with positivity and power words, that makes you feel more powerful, optimistic and positive. 1. Plan everything

Planning has been a real game-changer for me in 2017. Pull out a pen and paper and start writing down everything that comes to your mind. Try detailing out every minute details possible for your goal. The more deeper we go with our plan more executable the task becomes and ultimately gets done. The whole idea is to get clear picture of where we wish to go. I love mindmap app called Coogle to plan while I am on the move or travelling. This app does it’s job pretty well.

  1. Take actions

Alexander Graham Bell once said, “The only difference between success and failure is the ability to take action.” No matter how many journal you fill with your goals and plans, its not going to happen. You must get your hands dirty. It doesn’t have to be perfect plan, you don’t have to be a perfect person to begin with. We become better as we keep doing. Don’t wait for everything to fall in place before you begin, because it’s never gonna happen. Start with what you have, where you are and who you are and you will grow as the part of the process.

Do you think I’d have ever been able to start my podcast if I waited to become the best interviewer or getting the best equipments to begin with? Probably I’d have never started. Once I started with what I had, I am learning to become better episode after episode. That’s the process. Right?

  1. Grow every single day

Martin Luther King said, “If you cannot fly then run, if you cannot run then walk, if you cannot walk then crawl, But whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.” Whether it’s learning a new skill or writing a page for your book, or working on your goals make sure that you leap forward to growth every single day. Daily smaller growths will lead to the larger achievements over a period of time. So in 2018 make sure that you grow every single day whether that’s mental, physical, social, emotional or Intellectual growth. Make growth your daily habit

  1. Inspire people around you

The biggest gift you can ever give to someone is to make them believe in themselves. Because all we hear all the time is we are not good enough, we are not worth it, we cannot make impact in this world. This ultimately stops for the true potential of person to express out in the world.

So make it your daily goal to uplift people by encouraging them, listening to their ideas and appreciating rather than laughing at them. Give them reasons why their idea is worth trying, tell them that you trust in their idea and why they should start working on their idea ASAP. Make your contribution to further improve their idea and inspire them to move forward. Being someone’s source of positive energy can make bigger difference in their life. For instance, Whenever I put ideas in front of One of my members of my mastermind group Jogesh, always is excited to listen to my ideas and he always shows me hope on that idea and I end up executing that idea. Sometime that little push from someone can do miracles.

  1. Don’t Hesitate To ask

The one of the best skill I have developed to accelerate growth is to simply ask. Whether it is asking highly successful guests to be on my show, or asking people to promote my content or asking some expert to share their insights with me. It works like anything. One thing I have realized is people are very willing to help others succeed provided that they see that energy and passion in that person. But one one simple rule to follow before you ask is to Give and make that person feel that you are worth it.

Jack Canfield’s book The Aladdin Factor talks in greater detail about how asking what you want from people obviously who already has got it and can offer you could change your life.

Don’t hesitate to ask. Even if they say No you lost nothing but by asking you increased the chance of getting by 50% because it’s 50/50 whether you will get or not. So why not take a chance.
