My 2019 in Review: Successes and Failures

2019 has been my best year yet with a lot of opportunities and growth. This year has taught me some of the best life lessons. I am grateful for all the people, opportunities, successes and failures I encountered in 2019. As I look forward to another year of breakthrough, I am summarizing my 2019.

19 things I accomplished in 2019:

  1. Spoke at two major conferences- Professional Speakers Summit and BlogX.
  2. Organised two Podcast Retreats in the Himalayas- Best event I have ever done.
  3. Conducted 2 Podcast workshops in Nepal. Few more lined up for 2020 already.
  4. The Inspiring Talk became a finalist for Asia’s Best Podcast Award.
  5. The Inspiring Talk topped the Apple Podcast chart to become India’s #1 Podcast under All Podcasts Category!
  6. Launched our new venture WYN Studio to help brands amplify their message using Podcasts and Video.
  7. Awarded with REX Karmaveer Chakra Award and Global Fellow by iCONGO and United Nations.
  8. I was on National Media of Nepal and India- The Hindu, Sunday Guardian Live, Republica.
  9. Coached over 70 people on launching their Podcasts through multiple coaching batches.
  10. Started attending fitness class to stay fit.
  11. Turned Vegetarian, reduced junk food by 80% and been able to cut processed sugar from my diet by 80%.
  12. Organised the first The Inspiring Talk live event in Mumbai.
  13. Travelled to five new cities of India and Nepal.
  14. Attended several conferences and personal transformation events.
  15. Our new venture secured the first big client within a month of its operations.
  16. Cultivated self-love and acceptance. It has been a year of going deeper and understanding myself.
  17. Joined Toastmasters to improve my public speaking skills.
  18. Had an opportunity to sit with Kailash Kher almost for an hour at his office and listen him sing live.
  19. Started carrying my own water bottle. Been able to save more than 100 disposable plastic bottles on my travel. Started commuting to the office with a bicycle to become more environment-friendly.

Things I failed at in 2019:

  1. Missed the opportunity to conduct podcast workshops in Thailand and Myanmar.
  2. Failed to Launch the online course before the end of the year as planned.
  3. Had to let go the opportunity to train journalists of a leading media house of India.
  4. Failed to read all the books I wanted to read in 2019. I was able to read less than 50% of the books.
  5. Couldn’t continue meditating after the first half of 2019.
  6. Failed to reduce smartphone screen time usage to less than 90 minutes a day.
  7. I couldn’t stick to my morning routine for the majority of the year.
  8. I have been very irregular with my journaling.
  9. Failed at producing episodes of The Inspiring Talk every single week without a break.
  10. Couldn’t produce episodes of my other show Podcast Unfiltered regularly.
  11. Failed to hit the monthly income goal set for this year.
  12. I couldn’t complete all the online courses I signed up for.

20 things I wish to accomplish in 2020:

  1. Be regular with episodes for both of my podcasts The Inspiring Talk and Podcast Unfiltered.
  2. Journal every single morning.
  3. Meditate daily for 25 minutes.
  4. Exercise six days a week without a break.
  5. Read at least 30 books.
  6. Visit 3 new countries.
  7. Publish a book.
  8. Invest more in personal development and skills.
  9. Take 10 online courses on personal-transformation, storytelling, content creation and audio/video production.
  10. Earn at least $2000/month on passive income.
  11. Organise three The Inspiring Talk live events.
  12. Cut junk food and dairy completely from the diet.
  13. Speak at 5 big conferences and events in India and abroad.
  14. Create 3 digital products including an online course.
  15. Go on a full day trekking.
  16. Do bungee jumping and white-water river rafting.
  17. Conduct Podcast workshop in two new countries.
  18. Organize podcast retreat in Goa and South India.
  19. Cut the use of single-use plastic wherever possible.
  20. Meet three people from my list of people I’d like to meet on my lifetime.
